The GIB to invest in new CHP and waste to energy plant

The Green Investment Bank (GIB) has committed £80m  to support the construction of a new CHP 'energy from waste facility' in Kent. The plant will supply DS Smith’s Kemsley Paper Mill with 154 GWh of renewable electricity and 180 GWH of renewable energy per year. This will help decarbonise the mill, reduce GHG emissions whilst also reducing waste sent for landfill. Farm turns waste into electricity and heat

Lodge Farm in North Wales has been turning animal and food waste into renewable energy, providing sufficient energy for the farm along with 150 kWh daily to the grid. Over the last five years the organic farms anaerobic digester, has generated over 4.5m kWh of electricity and heat, from waste product, most notably cow dung and food waist from a factory close by. DfT aims to enhance sustainable travel by providing £60m to LAs and LEPs

The scheme was launched on 5th July 2016 and is open for local councils to apply for a share of £60 million of funding to boost walking and cycling across the UK. This scheme will give financial backing over a space of three years from 2017 – 2020 and as stated by Robert Goodwill, The Cycling and Walking Minister, is “aimed at starting innovative and sustainable council projects.” The scheme is open to councils across the UK (excluding London) with the deadline falling on the 9th of September. ...

Solar beat Coal in Energy Mix
